Relax, bitches. I’m on the case.

Alas, we here at Nerd Bastards must report that something we said a little while back was, in fact, false.  While the Internet feeds us the information of the world, for some reason there’s a small chance (very tiny indeed) that people actually get it wrong.  Who would have known that this miracle of modern technology could feed us lies?  And this week’s Internet BS correction is – Fede Alvarez will indeed be directing Evil Dead 2 (the future one that is, not the one that’s already been made). (more…)

Lily Collins, the recent arm candy of Taylor Lautner in Abduction, as well as her own lead in the upcoming Mirror Mirror, is the first cast member to join the Fede Alvarez directed Evil Dead reboot.

According to Bloody Disgusting, Lily will play the part of Mia, a drug addict who along with her friends heads to a remote cabin for a forced detox. In this new take on the 1981 cult classic five friends hole up at a remote cabin where they discover the Necronomicon, the fabled “Book of the Dead.” Once the book has been found fight for survival as one by one a demonic force begins to possess a each member of the group until only one is left.

There is absolutely no reason why this film needs to be remade, but I like Miss Collins, her casting sparks my interest.

Originally scripted by Alvarez and Rodo Sayagues, with revisions made in thanks to Diablo Cody, the reboot is being produced by original producing partners Rob Tapert, Bruce Campbell and Sam Raimi. Ghost House Pictures partners Joe Drake and Nathan Kahane will executive produce.

The Evil Dead will begin production shortly in New Zealand, planning an April  12, 2013 release.
