You all know it and so do the executives at Marvel Studios… Scarlett Johansson is super sexy as the Black Widow. Even before the Internet leaked those spank bank pics of Scarlett, or news that she would return as Natasha Romanoff for Joss Whedon‘s The Avengers, fans have always wanted Black Widow solo movie to call their own.
Marvel has openly expressed their interest in making multiple films for the big three- Iron Man, Thor and Captain America– and each on their way to sequel or threequel status, but lesser members of the super roster have yet to have their spotlight shine. Well, it looks like Johannson is ready to lace up the spandex once again for her own feature length spinoff:
“I love playing the Widow. I think she’s got a very interesting past, a lot of storylines to explore, and certainly Kevin [Feige, Marvel Studios’ president] loves that character … I think that Marvel has a very personal relationship with their fans, and I think if the fans want it, and the audience wants it, nothing’s impossible. I would love to explore that option as well. Like I said, I love the character and it would be nice to see something nice and gritty.”
Sharing screen time with fellow Avengers stars Robert Downey Jr., Chris Evans and Chris Hemsworth is nice, but a pure spy feature for one of the few Avengers without unlimited funds or the power of a god would be awesome. Maybe even explaining the past relationship between Natasha and fellow S.H.I.E.L.D agent Hawkeye, played by Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol star Jeremy Renner, would sell a script or two in the process. Guess we’ll have to wait and see how The Avengers does in theaters, as if we don’t already know.
Filmmaker and animator Patrick Boivin posted his latest animated short this morning, Black Widow Gone Wild, using the Black Widow figurine from HOT TOYS based on Scarlett Johansson’s character in Iron Man 2. The toys are fantastic looking and Boivin really puts them through their paces. Nice choice on music as well, Sexy Me, Sexy You by Artist of the Year.
Now I am personally throwing out the idea of a Black Widow vs Mockingbird vs Black Canary vs Powergirl vs Batgirl vs Scarlet Witch vs Wonder Woman vs . . . you get the idea video. Get cracking on it Patrick, I’ll guarantee it’s gets a million views if I have to click every count.
You’ve seen Patrick’s work before even if his name doesn’t ring a bell yet. Catch more of the videos you’ve enjoyed after the jump…
This evening I was fapping to Scarlett Johansson. A bottle of KY Jelly and some Barry White on the Itunes. It was my moment of zen. OK, maybe you didn’t need to know about my masturbation habits. What you may care to know is that director David O. Russel (The Fighter) is a fan of Scar Jo as well. So much so that she is in his thoughts for the role of Elena in upcoming project ‘Uncharted’, based of the acclaimed action-adventure video game series. Elena, an American journalist and TV personality in the game; finding the right lead for this role is a key aspect. At this early stage in the game he hasn’t given too much thought, but the idea of Scar Jo rolled in his head (Like me, he was probably fapping to her. Playing Elena was probably an after thought). In talking about The Fighter, he had this to say:
Oh I would love that too, I love Amy(referring to Amy Adams). I also love Scarlett Johansson; there’s a lot of great actors I think might suit. Hopefully, we’ll see how it works out with everybody who are being scoped to do that role…
So, she is in possible contention. Will it happen? Time will tell. Does she make a good choice. I’ll leave that for you to decide.
Oh, Russel further added his thoughts on the adaptation as well as the possibility of Mark Walberg and Robert De Niro starring. He said:
The game is very cinematic; there’s no question about it. That’s what I’m working on real hard and I’m writing it as we speak and I’m really excited to make it. I’d love Mark to be in it, I’d love Bob De Niro to be in it; I love the idea of growing them into a cinematic family; I think that’s a really cool idea, but… I guess you’ll have to wait until you see the script..
In other casting rumor news, we have actor Joseph Gordon-Levitt in talks to join ‘The Dark Knight Rises’. Being that he is chummy with Christopher Nolan, working together on ‘Inception’, it’s been assumed he would find his way into the next Batman flick. Deadline says:
Joseph Gordon-Levitt is in talks to reunite with his Inception director Christopher Nolan in The Dark Knight Rises for Warner Bros. I’m not sure what role he’ll play, but I’m told that he will be in the movie when Nolan starts production this spring.
OK, this is completely ridiculous claim on my part, but I’m inclined to think he might make a brief appearance as Heath Ledgers Joker. Insane? I know. Chris Nolan would never do this. He’s spoken admittedly about never replacing Ledger. However, as the years have gone by Levitt, in my opinion has grown to be a Heath Ledger doppelganger. He’s looking and sounding like the late actor day by day. If there was anyone… ANYONE who could remotely fool us into believing a Heath Ledger Joker again it’s Levitt. Take my speculation as you may. Most likely he’ll wind up as some Gotham cop… or something. Either way, it sounds like he’ll round out the cast nicely, with Christian Bale as Batman, Micheal Cane as Alfred, Gary Oldman as Commissioner Gordon, Morgan Freeman as Lucious Fox, Anne Hathaway as Catwoman and Tom Hardy as Bane.
