So the amount of faith invested in Warner Bros.’ handling of its DC Comics properties can be measured in a thimble, but that’s not to say there’s no hope at all. As Warners gambles on Batman V. Superman: Dawn of Justice to establish its own expansive and interconnected universe in one ambitious movie, they also have several follow up projects scheduled for release in 2016 and beyond. One of them, of course, is Wonder Woman, who, as we already know, appears in Batman V. Superman. The solo Wonder Woman film based on the comic about the powerful Amazonian warrior now has a star (Gal Gadot), a director (Michelle MacLaren), and a release date (June 2017), but what it still lacks is a script. In a parallel universe, there are awesome geeky movies that you’d kill, or at least maim, to watch. Sadly, we live in this universe where these films never got made. But if you somehow get your hands on these screenplays you’ll at least be able to get a sense of what we’re missing. Here in no particular order, are the top 10 must reads for any serious movie dork.
The 2008 Black List,
“was compiled from the suggestions of over 250 film executives, each of whom contributed the names of up to ten of their favorite scripts that were written in, or are somehow uniquely associated with, 2008 and will not be released in theaters during this calendar year.
