It’s no small secret that work has begun on Alien; Covenant, Ridley Scott‘s follow-up prequel sequel to Prometheus and the Alien universe. Many are looking at Covenant with a sense of reserved anticipation; Prometheus left a lot of people disappointed, but Scott’s last film, The Martian, showed that so far as his sci-fi chops go, he’s still got it. So keeping all that in mind there’s this piece, a new official photo from the set of Katherine Waterson in character as the female lead, Daniels. Obviously, not much has yet been revealed about her, or anything regarding Covenant, but if you take a look at the photo, Scott is definitely invoking Alien heroines of the past in this one. (more…)
Ryan Reynolds has not had the best of luck with comic book movies. Clearly, he’s a fan of the genre, and he’s the kind of guy that gives 110 per cent to the part once he’s cast, but it’s been one swing and a miss after the other when it comes to his big screen superhero ambitions. Deadpool got dissed in X-Men Origins: Wolverine, Green Lantern was dead on arrival, and the less said about R.I.P.D. the better (and Jeff Bridges would thank you never to mention it again). Or maybe this is just a picture of a guy on a toilet. (more…)
Sure looks that way. On the Facebook fan page for Warner Bros./Legendary Pictures new Godzilla remake yesterday, the below picture was posted with the caption, “Path of Destruction.” Not sure where this is supposed to be in the context of the film, but if you said that it looks like British Columbia, you’d be correct because Godzilla is indeed shooting in and around Canada’s western-most province right now. (No word yet on how a Godzilla attack is going to affect the current provincial election in B.C., and between you, me, and the lamp post Liberal Premier Christy Clark can’t take any more bad news.)

Godzilla, directed by Gareth Edwards (Monsters) and starring Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Ken Watanabe, Elizabeth Olsen, Juliette Binoche, David Strathairn, Bryan Cranston, and Sally Hawkins, is scheduled to be released on May 16th, 2014.
