If you have a name like En Sabah Nur, you better believe that your decorating theme will be Egyptian. In the case of X-Men: Apocalypse though it also helps that the titular main villain is from Ancient Egypt. Despite the fact that he survived multiple millennia of history, Apocalypse still likes a little piece of home, even in the 1980s. A new photo from the set of Apocalypse reveals a look at En Sabah Nur’s lair, and from the look of it, it’s no X-Mansion. Of course, the first look at Apocalypse himself was less that seriously received by fans, but all things considered, you’re probably going to like his homebase. (more…)

In a little less than a month, Daredevil will bow on Netflix and at once the launch will usher in the next phase of Marvel Studios multimedia strategic takeover while erasing the lingering bad taste left by the 2003 Mark Steven Johnson film starring Ben “Batman” Affleck. Although the main big bad of the series will be The Kingpin played by Vincent D’Onofrio, the Man Without Fear is going to need other bad guys to beat up over the course of his 13-episode first season. Marvel has announced a few additions to the cast list, but in other news Jessica Jones has spotted once again in the City of New York. Or, I guess make that Krysten Ritter in AKA: Jessica Jones. As you may or may not have realized, there’s been a lot of secrecy around the development of Star Wars Episode VII. In fact, so little’s been revealed that those of us who post nerdy news on the internet have more or less had make a big deal out of whatever random, could-be-plausible rumor, no matter how truthful of consequential those morsels happen to be. Hopefully, I didn’t just undermine the whole point of us, but let’s be honest, these are the bits we live for. So hold on to your butts, because here’s a totally legit sneak peak behind the scenes of Star Wars Episode VII. A surprise appearance by one of the most well-known figure associated with the entire franchise. (more…)

Honestly, had you asked me a few years ago if I’d be excited about an Evil Dead reboot I’d have scoffed in your face. How could the remake of this cult classic be any good? Especially without Sam Raimi behind the camera or Bruce Campbell in front!?

I felt more confident this wouldn’t be a giant pile of stinking shit once Fede Alvarez was attached to direct. I think his relative newcomer status as well as familiarity with low-budget restraints make him an excellent match for an Evil Dead remake. The Dead films were very low-budget and if you start throwing tons of cash at the franchise, you’d kill it.

Today it was announced Jane Levy, star of ABC’s sitcom Suburgatory, would take over the female lead from Lily Collins. Another unknown, what a smart move. The less we know about the stars I think the more we’ll relate when they’re suffering at the hands of unknown demonic horrors.

Plus, she’s cute. Every horror flick needs a cute chick to either be the lone survivor, or die in some gruesomely unexpected fashion.

In addition to this bit of casting news we have our first look at the film in this newly released set pic. It’s the road to hell which leads the five friends to that damned cabin in the woods.

Evil Dead deals with five twenty-something friends who become holed up in a remote cabin where they discover a Book Of The Dead and unwittingly summon up dormant demons living in the nearby woods, which possess the youngsters in succession until only one is left intact to fight for survival.

What do you think about this reboot of Evil Dead? Are you excited or face-palming at the fact Raimi agreed to produce? It’s been confirmed Campbell will have a cameo, so it’ll be worth it to at least catch that.

Evil Dead is set to open April 12th, 2013.

Thanks to a photo posted to the Twitter page of a the fansite, DCU Movie Page we can get a little better look at Superman’s suit from Zack Snyder‘s Man of Steel. The photo of Henry Cavill, “with a little fan on the set,” allows you to better see not only the texture of the suit but also the colors. In this image the suit’s iconic red and blue don’t appear nearly as washed out as in the first promotional image (seen above).

It’s still unclear what’s going on in the area formally covered by Superman’s red trunks. io9 is predicting the possibility Cavill could suffer from “Bowie Bulge” (Editor’s note: See Labyrinth) without the underwear on the outside look.

Man of Steel opens this summer in June.
