SHIELD season 2

Last week on Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., we finally got to see a confrontation between Coulson’s crew and the “real” S.H.I.E.L.D. and even a stare-down between the respective leaders of the different sides of this organization. This led to Coulson being forced to flee and his eventual team-up with his last free ally, Hunter. Skye became a target of the S.H.I.E.L.D.-on-S.H.I.E.L.D. madness as well, resulting in her blowing shit up with her super powers and calling on the blind teleporter guy, Gordon, to come take her away. This week with ‘Afterlife‘, we get more on what happened to Skye and a look at what the two S.H.I.E.L.D.s are doing in their struggle against one another. (more…)

Last week on Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., we got to see Skye take her powers out for a little test spin. Unfortunately, she’s not up-to-par, so all she could really do is make things shake around a bit. We also saw Skye-daddy with his band of super folks, but that battle didn’t pan out as dramatically as we’d hoped – it was basically a punch-fest without any really power stuff. And finally, poor Hunter got clobbered by Mack when he skirted a little too close to the Bobbi/Mack mysterious story arc. This week, ‘Love in the Time of HYDRA’ promises to answer those nagging questions about what the hell is going on with Bobbi and Mack, while hopefully giving us something new to chew on. And… it’s the arrival of muthafuckin’ Edward James Olmos! So was it worth the 42-minute chunk of our lives? (more…)

Last week on Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., we had the chance to watch Skye’s powers go all sorts of crazy. It didn’t take long before everyone in the crew knew that she’d been altered by the Kree temple and that when she gets upset, shit begins to shake and break. But, despite having the chance to hand her off to either a Kree that wanted to kill her or an Asgardian that wanted to lock her away, the S.H.I.E.L.D. team decided to keep her. In the meanwhile, Bobbi and Mack were up to no good. Or so we think. But we don’t know. Cause that whole thing is being kept intentionally vague. This week, ‘One of Us’ brings Skye’s daddy back to give her a kiss – and he has a small army of super-humans with him to help out. (more…)

Last week on Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., we had a dramatic return from the season break. Dealing with the aftermath of what happened in the alien city and the death of a comrade, the team wasn’t doing so hot. Skye was having issues understanding what she was, Simmons apparently went off the deep end and decided that lethal measures against super-powered beings might be the way to go, H.Y.D.R.A. lost more than one of its heads and Raina got snatched up by some crazy teleporting blind guy that was groomed by Skye’s dead mother. Oh, and Skye’s crazy-ass dad is back and still looking for his daughter’s love, even if he has to force it out of her under threat of death. With a strong start to the season, did ‘Who You Really Are’ measure up? In some ways, yes. In others, not so much. (more…)

Last time around on Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., the grand mystery of what the hell is going on with the symbols that Coulson has been carving into the walls was finally solved. As it turns out, all those circles, lines and squares were some sort of architectural schematic for an alien city. So now it’s up to the S.H.I.E.L.D. team to race H.Y.D.R.A. and find the city before they can. To make matters worse, former agent Grant Ward is on the loose again and nobody knows what side he is truly on. This week, ‘The Things We Bury’ begins the race to the city and looks a bit closer at what’s really going on in Ward’s head. (more…)

Last week on Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., Simmons finally made it back from her undercover operation. She also happened to have a little help from Bobbi Morse, AKA Mockingbird. Now, with one returning and one new addition to the team, Coulson sets out to fight H.Y.D.R.A. once again. This time, however, H.Y.D.R.A.’s main plan of attack is a PR move that could have the world hunting after Coulson’s team with a vengeance. Scroll on for a review of ‘A Fractured House‘. (more…)

Those who spent the time and effort to tune in each week for the first season of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. may have been a bit disappointed overall, but there’s no question that the show ended on a very dramatic high point. Even those of us that foresaw doom in the show’s future have to wonder at where the writers will take it come next season. Well, it seems as if they’re preparing for something bigger, for the S.H.I.E.L.D. team has just picked up none-other-than Xena the Warrior Princess herself – Lucy Lawless. (more…)
