Silver Samurai

James Mangold‘s The Wolverine trailer was shown at CinemaCon 2013 a couple of weeks ago, now it’s hit the Internet and you can take a look below. It’s full of lots of interesting tidbits that should get Wolverine fans excited, including the first quick and shadowy looks at the Silver Samurai costume.

Here are the two frames that show what we can see of the Silver Samurai. In the first panel he looks three times the size of Wolverine, but it’s more like twice since Wolverine is on his knees in that shot. It’s obviously not traditional Japanese armor, it looks like a cross between that and some Iron Man tech.

The sword looks to be on fire, but that’s the Tachyon field that Kenuichio Harada (Silver Samurai) can create using his mutant powers. He usually wraps the field around his sword, making it able to cut through anything like butter, anything except adamantium. I’m wondering if we’ll see him use the teleportation ring from the comics as well.

What do you think? What are you looking forward to in this latest Wolverine movie?

This is going to be a hell of a summer of movies.

Comic-con has its fair share of panels every day during the course of the four day event and its fair share of surprises to wow the crowds waiting to see the stars. Hugh Jackman continued the trend today while promoting his latest film Real Steel, the “Rock-em, Sock-em robots” live-action film. He did what any person would do during their Q&A, he revealed the villain for The Wolverine to packed crowd.

The film now directed by James Mansgold had Jackman confirming not only who their villain will be but also when shooting is set to begin. This shouldn’t be any surprise to anyone that has read the Frank Miller Wolverine Japan Saga as there’s only one person that could piss the Canuck off that much in the land of peace and honor. We just had to wait for an actual confirmation, we couldn’t explain it if we had shuriken in our face.
