Quick, name an actor who has played Dracula, Sherlock Holmes, and Zorro. Okay, the title gives the truth away but Frank Langella has played all those parts and so many more.
He is best known for his portrayal of the 37th President of the United States, Richard M. Nixon, in the film (and play) Frost/Nixon. That role found him nominated for both an Oscar and a Tony. He would go on to win four Tony awards for his roles in Frost/Nixon, The Father, Seascape, and Fortune’s Fool.
However, despite his success as a mainstream actor, Langella has gone on to perform in several nerd-centric roles.
Here are just a few of the noteworthy parts he played that brought him to the notice of nerds everywhere.
A new live action He-Man and The Masters of The Universe movie – based on the 80’s Toy/Cartoon property of the same name – has been in Hollywood’s orbit for some time. Over the last decade or so, the project has changed studios and a number writers and directors. G.I. Joe director Jon Chu had been the latest in a series of creatives to tackle the most powerful man in the universe. Lin left the production to pursue other projects. Now Columbia Pictures Senior Vice President of Production DeVon Franklin has announced that Kick-Ass 2 director Jeff Wadlow has handed in a newly completed script for the new Masters of the Universe movie adaptation. Each and every week we scour the Internet for nothing but the best in nerdy art. We leave no digital stone unturned, we poke and prod every nook and cranny of the Interwebz. Why? Because we love you, and we love to bring you weekly feed of nerd art.
On with the dump!
Above: In all three Lord of the Rings films poor Samwise never really got the credit for having to deal with all the crap he had to put up with. Thankfully Glen Brogan feels the hobbit’s pain and gave him the credit he rightfully deserves. [XombieDIRGE]

Every day the internet produces an astounding amount of goodies and gems. Most hilarious, some amusing, but all worth at least a few seconds of your time. We here at Nerd Bastards try to bring you the best bits of news and nerdery the webz has to offer, with a bit of snark thrown in. But sometimes not everything makes the cut. Monday through Friday we’ll be bringing you our inbox leftovers, our forgotten bookmarks, the nerdy bits that simply slipped through the cracks. You can submit items to Nerdy Bits by emailing us at email@example.com.
ABOVE: Lady Skeletor cosplay. I am so tempted to make a “skull f*ck” joke, but that would be inappropriate. [ObviousWinner]
The Interwebz, where nerd art runs wild. Oh, and they draw a lot too. Sure, sometimes it’s 50 new rage faces (please stop by the way) or pictures of ligers. Why is it always ligers?
Other times? Oh those other times… it;s fantastic and magical drawings that make the imagination soar and the geek spirit reach new heights.
It’s time for a Nerd Art Dump.
ABOVE: The next time you watch Masters of the Universe remember to see it from the other perspective. He-man wasn’t the big hero that he appeared to be on TV. He was actually just another muscle bound jock picking on poor skinny Skeletor, trying to make his way through the day. What a jerk. [Geek Diaper]

The Interwebz is a great place for nerdy art and the like. A lot of the time it’s fuckin’ weird shit like Dracula sucking off Frankenstein and shit like that. But there are a lot of awesome things that we see on a daily basis, and we’re lazy nerd bastards so we just round them all up once a week for your nerdgasm glory.
This is what some of the Disney princesses would look like in real life! I don’t know how Esmerelda would be considered a Disney princess, but whatever ’cause she’s pretty hot. Credit to Jirka, who is a damn good artist.
The Interwebz is a great place for all sorts of crazy things. Often, you’ll find things like purple alien hentai and fucked up shit like that. We see awesome nerdy art pieces every day, but we’re fuckin’ lazy bastards… so here is your weekly fix to fuel your nerdtastic jizzfests!
This Harry Potter/Doctor Who mash-up piece was initially planned to be a replication of the movie poster for The Philosopher’s Stone, but time constraints resulted in changing the plan and only doing the Doctor Potter character. Still pretty fuckin’ cool. You can check out the work-in-progress pictures by Jeffrey Delgado here.
Head to your next big toy convention and check out the displays for a company’s upcoming toy line, it’s nothing more then a figure and name plate. At best it’s some person telling you how these figures made outside the country are going to be the hottest selling product of the year. It’s all for show, nothing more then a pitch from someone that might only know enough to get by. Now hop back in the DeLorean, time travel to 1986 and check out this amazing Masters of The Universe display. If Doc Brown and a flux capacitor cannot be provided then the following video tape will just have to do.
Making a big event out of children’stoys isn’t much now but throw in a narrator and some “special” effects and you’ve got the kids sold on what they want for Christmas. Remember this is from a video camera from 86 so for those kids that expect HD picture quality and massive effects don’t get your hopes up, this counts as your history lesson for school.

Nerd Art Stock Pile? There’s a lot of nerd art on the net. Mostly it’s fan-fiction tentacle Pr0n, but hey we’re not complaining. We see so much neato art work on a daily basis, but for whatever reason they don’t make it to the front page of Nerd Bastards. We’re either lazy, or a piece of stand alone artwork isn’t enough to warrant a full post. Mostly we’re lazy. But, who are we to rob you of this net glory? We’re bastards but we’re not assholes. So here’s a roundup of the latest Nerd Art; intended for eye masturbation purposes.
It’s a known fact that Zombies make everything better. It’s true. Such as the case with Star Wars. Just look at Billy Tackett’s one-sheet titled ‘Star Wars: A New Corpse’ (pictured above). As you can see this piece features Luke, Leia and Darth Vader in the original movie poster set up but all zombified. Don’t you dare tell me that a ghoulish version of Star Wars as depicted here wouldn’t be amazeballs? Oh, random sick thought. Zombie Leia kissing Zombie Luke. That’s incest necrophilia. eh, still no where as disturbing as the fat on George Lucas’s neck.
Like Bill’s necro take on Star Wars? Head over to http://www.billytackett.com/ to see more of his cool artwork!
