Star Wars Episode IX
Unlike certain other Star Wars projects, the main saga series has been running like a Swiss watch of modern filmmaking efficiency. Rian Johnson is wrapping up work on Star Wars: The Last Jedi as we speak, and work has already begun on the next chapter, the as-yet untitled Star Wars: Episode IX, which will be overseen by the steady hands of Jurassic World helmer Colin Trevorrow. Now, Episode IX has already had its share of challenges, primarily the untimely passing of Carrie Fisher, which may be why Trevorrow has decided to farm out some of the writing work to a new set of fingers and his keyboard. Best known for playing Princess Leia in the Star Wars franchise, Fischer also appeared in countless other films, including Shampoo, The Blues Brothers, When Harry Met Sally…, and countless others. Fischer also was a good novelist as well as a screenwriter who wrote countless films and also helped with re-writes for others. Most recently, she once again joined the geek lexicon returning in the latest Star Wars film, The Force Awakens as General Leia for the recent film. She had already completed her filming for the upcoming film, Star Wars: The Last Jedi when she, unfortunately, passed away afterward.
