Sterling K Brown

What a year for Sterling K. Brown! He had a key role as Christopher Darden in The People VS O.J. Simpson, he co-stars in the biggest new series on broadcast TV This Is Us, and he was recently cast in a secretive new part for the upcoming Marvel Studios movie Black Panther. When you’ve got this kind of momentum in Hollywood you’ve just got to keep going, so it’s understandable that Brown might want to add another franchise to his resume. So now, following in the footsteps of Darden, Brown is committing to chasing down another killer… from outer space! The Predator. (more…)

The other day, a fellow blerd (black nerd) and I were talking about the upcoming Black Panther movie and how exciting the upcoming movie will be. It has a lot of potential, as well as a lot of risks. This will be the first truly big-budget blockbuster with a primarily African-American or African cast (90% of the cast will be people of color), as well as many people of color behind the scenes including director Ryan Coogler as well as his screenwriting partner Joe Robert Cole. Of course, the cast is a who’s who of big-name black actors working today with a cast list that includes: Chadwick Boseman, Michael B. Jordan, Lupita Nyong’o, Danai Gurira, Winston Duke, Forest Whitaker, Florence Kasumba, Daniel Kaluuya, Angela Bassett and Letitia Wright. During the conversation, my friend said, “what black actors isn’t going to be in this movie?” Well, it looks like yet another person has joined the cast of Black Panther.
