Super Friends!

With CinemaCon officially wrapped up there seems to be a few dangling threads. Late last week, twitter was abuzz with the possibility that there might be a few reveals trickling out of Zack Snyder‘s Man of Steel sequel; most notably the big reveal on Ben Affleck‘s Batsuit in celebration of DC’s launch of Batman’s 75th anniversary celebration. Those fires were kicked up a notch when Warner CEO Kevin Tsujihara told the New York Times that announcements (note the plural) on a unified DC cinematic universe were imminent.

Well, the weekend has come and gone, and so far we haven’t see any sign of those announcements (save for those Green Lantern rumblings.) But, that might not be entirely true. The folks over at SpoilerShoot.com have posted a handful of pictures late last night from what was reported to be the abandoned launch for DC’s foray into the joined comic book universe market.  (more…)

Every day the internet produces an astounding amount of goodies and gems. Most hilarious, some amusing, but all worth at least a few seconds of your time. We here at Nerd Bastards try to bring you the best bits of news and nerdery the webz has to offer, with a bit of snark thrown in. But sometimes not everything makes the cut. Monday through Friday we’ll be bringing you our inbox leftovers, our forgotten bookmarks, the nerdy bits that simply slipped through the cracks. You can submit items to Nerdy Bits by emailing us at nerdybits@nerdbastards.com.

Let’s face it, in the DC Universe, if you are not part of the big trinity, you’re not much. It is always ‘Batman this’ and ‘Superman that’ and ‘check out Wonder Woman’s hooters’… Oh sure, maybe you are just as good a detective, half machine, mystically super charged or um, Booster Gold. That doesn’t seems to cut it, you’ll always be a second stringer without that big name recognition, It really has to be hard for these men, women and aliens to carve out their own niche.

Are they really your “Super Friends”? The merchants of mayhem over at Mad (the TV series seen at some point on the Cartoon Network, check your local listings) have put together this wonderful cartoon/musical that answers that.

(props for not only having everyone pre-New 52, but also having the REAL Blue Beetle and Captain Marvel!)

Superman’s Dirty Little Secret

SDS

One hundred thousand dollars to return the kidnapped President?  Why doesn’t Bruce Wayne just write a check?  He spends more than that each month just having the salt water jacuzzi tub changed at the Hall of Justice.  It’s Aquaman’s dirty little secret that his fish sack really stinks up the water.  They all have their own dirty little secrets.

Wonder Woman comes from an Island that doesn’t allow men . . . Batman has one old guy that he works to death in that huge mansion on the hill . . . The Flash has a some all to real “premature” issues . . . Martin Manhunter, well let’s just say that he got the “Manhunter” name hanging around rest rooms at public parks . . .

Don’t even get me started on the Marvel heroes, man do they have some serious hangups.

Who’s your favorite super hero and what’s their secret?
