Marvel is on point this year. Not only have they been killing the box-office numbers, but they’ve brought that same formula to their SuperBowl commercials and brand collaborations. You can check out some of the other Marvel Trailers and Collabs here, and Coca-Cola delivers an epic commercial featuring Marvel’s biggest and smallest Super Heroes, which they have teased “Is Only the Beginning” take a look at the first of what is set to unfold on Coca-Cola’s social media from this day forward.
Now, granted–it’s 2013, the world has changed, and more than a few card-carrying nerds will be watching the big game this Sunday completely earnestly and without any irony….We’ve come a long way.
Of course, the rest of us will just be occasionally flipping to the Superbowl hoping to catch the commercials….specifically: The Trailers!
This year promises adverts for a number of highly anticipated films, including: Star Trek Into Darkness, Fast And Furious 6, and World War Z….and 3 from Disney: Shane Black’s Iron Man 3, Oz: The Great And Powerful–directed by Sam Raimi, and Gore Verbinski’s The Lone Ranger.
We’ve got the teasers for Disney’s Super-trailers below, starting with Iron Man 3:
Followed by The Lone Ranger:
And finally, Oz: The Great And Powerful:
For those of you who want to see the longer versions of Sunday’s trailers (or who wouldn’t be caught dead watching football), they’ll probably be up online at the same time the game airs–and most likely will be offered for your viewing pleasure right here on NerdBastards.
Micheal Bay‘s directing roots began with commercials so it’s no surprise that Doritos decided to partner up with Bay and have him join the panel of judges for this years Crash the Superbowl commercial contest. The grand prize winner gets a job working with Bay on Transformers 4. Bay talked with THR (The Hollywood Reporter) about the contest:
“When you find out where these guys came from…its great,” Bay says. “If you want to get noticed, this is the way to do it.”
“When I was a film student, I would have killed for this kind of opportunity,” says Bay, who is currently in post-production on Pain & Gain for Paramount before turning to Transformers 4, which will be released in June 2014. “When you’re on the set, you get to see it all go down.”
Check out the Doritos Crash the Super Bowl: Directors Cut video below featuring some clips from last years winners.
Hollywood dreaming filmmakers have until 11:59:59 pm CT on November 16, 2012 to get their video creations turned in for judging. The two top finalists chosen by Bay and a panel of Doritos judges will have their Doritos Superbowl ad run during the game. You can check out the rest of the rules and how to enter the contest at the Crash the SuperBowl FB page.
Bay wouldn’t comment when asked about what he would be looking for when judging the entrants, but I can imagine that there will be many, many explosions to sit through. Even Doritos got threw in a couple of explosions in the video above. Could that be the unofficial slogan of this marketing campaign . . .
