T. J. Miller

TJ Miller Deadpool

HBO’s ‘Silicon Valley’ and ‘Deadpool’ star T.J. Miller has been added to the cast of ‘Ready Player One,’ Steven Spielberg’s adaptation of the action-packed, sci-fi novel by Ernest Cline. In the Warner Bros./Village Roadshow produced film, Miller will take on the role of i-R0k, an online troll who searches and monitors the online forums of the wildly popular virtual reality MMO game Oasis. Deadpool was a box office success and pleased fans and newcomers alike, mainly due to the brilliantly timed gags that pushed the envelope, even in an R-rated movie. Throw T.J. Miller into the mix and you had a recipie for some amazing comedy moments. If you thought you’d seen all of the jokes that Deadpool could muster up, you are very wrong! In four days time Deadpool will be released on Blu-Ray and DVD and with it comes a gag reel in the special features that includes some improvisation and mistakes that make the development of Deadpool look just as much fun as the film itself.

Over the weekend, Deadpool crossed the $200 million mark and finished its 10-day run with a haul just north $230 million. With another $140 million in the bank, Deadpool will officially be the highest-grossing R-rated movie of all time, which means that the ultra-realistic filmed version of the scourging of the Son of God in The Passion of the Christ will have been surpassed at the box office by a morally ambiguous, foul-mouthed masked killer trying to save his prostitute girlfriend by murdering everyone between him and her. So clearly, Wade Wilson knows a thing or two about relationships. So why not give him an advice column-type video show, said no one ever. (more…)

Few can argue that the theatrical version of Deadpool needs much, if any revision.  And apparently director Tim Miller agrees.  The film that is reshaping how comic book movies can be made, is apparently getting no director’s cut, says Miller in an interview moderated by Collider.  That probably makes some sense, since the film is already rated R and both a commercial and critical success.  But that doesn’t mean the fans don’t want more.  One of the biggest critiques of the film is that, coming in at around an hour and forty-eight minutes, it wasn’t long enough.  However, just because there won’t be a director’s cut, doesn’t mean the Blu-ray won’t hold some deleted scenes, and hopefully a gag reel. If you’re not watching Silicon Valley then you are missing out. Seriously, while most folks are paying for some form of an HBO subscription so they can watch Game of Thrones, Silicon Valley is the icing on that Dragons/FullFrontalNudity/JonSnowStabbing cake. Silicon Valley is well written and the actors are killing it. We can wholeheartedly recommend this show without reservations… you’re gonna like it. There’s math to prove it. (more…)

Conan and company brought out the big Star Wars: The Force Awakens guns for last night’s show with guests J.J. Abrams, Harrison Ford, Daisy Ridley, John Boyega, Oscar Issac, Adam Driver, Gwendoline Christie, and Lupita Nyong’o, but even all those stars couldn’t outshine the opening bit for the show. It’s a brilliant bit of Star Wars comedy by Conan and friends that takes a look at those characters not called back for the Episode VII. (more…)
