It was a great day for Michael Bay! That is if getting an award nomination regardless of the implications of said award is cause for celebration. Still, seven nominations is nothing to sneeze at, and Transformers: Age of Extinction is the most honored movie of the year for the 35th Annual Golden Raspberry Awards. Compounding the laurels (darts) for Bay is that his Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles movie, which he co-produced, received five nominations including the coveted Worst Picture trophy. Other top nominees include Saving Christmas and The Legend of Hercules, which received six nominations, but it seems that the Razzies are also losing some of their vitriol in the second half of its fourth decade as, for the first time this year, their giving out an award for coming back after multiple Razzie nominations and/or wins. Last week, Danny Woodburn, who is best known for his roles in Seinfeld and Watchmen, was shocked to learn that he had been replaced as the voice of ‘Master Splinter’ in the Michael Bay-produced Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. He isn’t taking the news lying down, and has responded, “my legal team is looking into it.” While it sounds interesting, it doesn’t seem as though the actor has a leg to stand on. That’s according to a source for Deadline’s Mike Fleming  who said, “the actors were only guaranteed to physically perform the roles in costume.”

The one burning question I wanted answered last week when the news broke that Johnny Knoxville and Tony Schaloub would be taking over as the voices of Leonardo and Splinter in Michael Bay‘s Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles reboot was, “Did the actors, Pete Plozek and Danny Woodburn, know they would only be doing the physical performance?” Now we know.
