For those fans of Starz’sSpartacus, who are dreading the end of the series and looking for something to replace it, might want to tune into the 10PM, March 3rd premiere of the History Channel‘s new series Vikings. It’s the History Channel’s first foray into the world of original scripted series.
The show’s first season is set for nine, hour long episodes and is described by the History Channel as:
Vikings follows the adventures of Ragnar Lothbrok the greatest hero of his age. The series tells the sagas of Ragnar’s band of Viking brothers and his family, as he rises to become King of the Viking tribes. As well as being a fearless warrior, Ragnar embodies the Norse traditions of devotion to the gods, legend has it that he was a direct descendant of Odin, the god of war and warriors.
Micheal Hirst is the creative force behind Vikings, you might have seen his work on The Tudors, Camelot, and he wrote the Oscar winning Elizabeth. The show opening sequence has a stylized, Mad Men feel to it and the music of Fever Ray:If I had a Heart is a great addition to the overall style.
The cast includes Travis Fimmel (The Beast, Baytown Outlaws), Jessalyn Gilsig (Glee, Heroes, CSI: NY), Gabriel Byrne (The Usual Suspects, Miller’s Crossing), George Blagden (Wrath of the Titans, Les’ Miserables), Gustaf Skarsgard (The Way Back), Clive Standen (Camelot, Robin Hood), and Katheryn Winnick (Stand Up Guys).
Check out the videos below and let us know if you’ll be tuning in March 3rd. I’ll be taking a look at the series. I need something to fill the void while I wait on Sons of Anarchy to return.
The noise around the geek water cooler today (twitter, facebook, other shit) is that this AMC’s The Walking Dead has leaked it’s way on to the internet. How this happened it remains to be known. Maybe it was part of the studios agenda to boost hype about the show (if so, it worked. Hence this article) or some disgruntle reviewer has let the most anticipated cat out of the bag. Whatever the reason might be, if you still want first dibs on seeing this gem (and yes, I did take a few peaks. It is a revelation!) you’re going to have to make tracks cause the link seems to going down everywhere since i discovered it 3 days ago.
I am not going to give you hints cause that’s no fun! fly my pretties FLY!
You look out the window and see the night sky is an interesting kaleidoscope of purple, gold, and green; the dark swirling clouds threaten storms of untold proportions. An alien mother ship hangs ominously over the burning city in the distance, spewing laser beams and attack crafts to the ground. The zombies outside beat a steady rhythm on your front door…wait a minute, is that Betty White? In the next room the TV anchor is droning on about the meteor headed toward earth bound for impact in eight days; as if it mattered. You grab the remote and flip through the channels, the meteor . . . zombies . . . aliens . . . man-eating frogs . . . zombies . . . Jersey Shore . . . meteor . . . tornadoes . . . some kind of western about four weird guys on horses . . . yeah, nothing on, at least that much hasn’t changed.
Not much else to do but go nail another board over that window, grab your baseball bat, a bottle of Tequila, your favorite snacks, and watch:
