The Force Awakens

Aside from a few comments from Adam Driver and the news that the late Carrie Fisher shot her scenes in time to be included, there hasn’t been a lot of infomation floating around about what fans can expect from Star Wars: Episode VIII. For a franchise with such a huge following, those in the know have done an impressive job of keeping the movie’s secrets under wraps. Now director Rian Johnson has offered USA Today some choice comments, which have given fans plenty to mull over while they’re waiting for the December release. (more…)

George Lucas was heavily criticized for his work on the Star Wars prequel trilogy. And rightly so. Had Lucas not sold Lucasfilm to Disney, he may very well have made his version of The Force Awakens. However, there have been interviews that have surfaced which provide some insight as to what a George Lucas helmed Episode VII would have looked like. (more…)

LEGO Gives Star Wars Fans A Treat For May 4th

Lego Star Wars has been an unwavering element of Lego‘s adaptations and it doesn’t look like slowing down. If anything, Lego Star Wars is picking up speed, as they develop Lego sets, films, TV series and video games. The video game series has been ongoing since 2005 and is releasing another title next month. The title of the latest installment is Lego Star Wars: The Force Awakens and in celebration of Star Wars Day, Lego have released a trailer for the upcoming game.

The one constant throughout the Star Wars films has been everyone’s favorite droid duo C-3PO, and R-2D2. Although the two spent most of The Force Awakens on the sidelines in favor of newcomer B-88, they still are very much a part of the heart and soul of Star Wars. They have gone on adventures with both Anakin Skywalker and his son Luke throughout both trilogies. When the promotional material for The Force Awakens first began to surface, there was a slight change in our favorite protocol droid’s appearance. No longer did he have his gold plating throughout his body. For some unexplained reason, C3PO was seen sporting a red arm on his left arm. Even though it was clear that he had a red arm, in typical C-3PO fashion, he spent some time to irksomely explain that he had a brand new red arm that everyone had to notice. While this was an interesting aesthetic, it was not explained at all during the film, it was just something that “happened” and now we’ll just have to get used to it. This left some fans to ponder: Why is his arm red? What happened? In typical JJ Abrams fashion, we didn’t get an answer… until now.

After almost four long months of waiting, Star Wars: The Force Awakens has finally hit the shelves on Blu-ray and DVD. Now you can enjoy one of the biggest movies of all time in the comfort of your own home. Not only will you be getting the film itself, but you’ll be able pig out on a buffet of deleted scenes, cast interviews, commentaries and other extra features as well. With the ability to rewatch the film as many times as your heart desires, you’ll also be able to thoroughly analyze the many fan theories that arose from its story. If you feel overwhelmed by these numerous fan theories, then fear not; J.J. Abrams himself recently cleared up one of the film’s biggest unanswered questions.

Is nothing sacred? Of course, the answer is ‘No.’ At the same time though, one would think that if there was such a thing as “sacred” in the movie business, it would be Star Wars, and you would be wrong because a couple of weeks in advanced of The Force Awakens’ DVD and Blu-ray release, some hooked-handed, peg-legged person has uploaded a DVD quality version of the film to pirate sites. As you’re well aware, the internet is forever, which means that if you want a high quality version of the film, you can probably find it with a minimum of effort.  (more…)

Talk about a dead pool! Yes, as proof of his cultural assimilation, Deadpool was been nominated for eight MTV Movie Awards as announced this morning by the so-called Music Television. Only Star Wars: The Force Awakens did better with 11 nominations, but both films will face-off against Avengers: Age of Ultron, Creed, Jurassic World, and Straight Outta Compton for Movie of the Year when Dwayne Johnson and Kevin Hart host the 2016 awards show next month. And on top of the usual categories like “Best Fight” and “Best Kiss”, MTV is also injecting some reality into this year’s program. Want the full list of nominees? Look below. (more…)

Jedi dropout. Leader of the Knights of Ren. Teenager with a lightsaber. Whether you love him or hate him, Kylo Ren is definitely one of the most unconventional space opera villains, what with his crappy, short-fuse attitude and his lacking when it comes down to meticulous planning. Saturday Night Live obviously saw the comedy goldmine that is Episode VII‘s archnemesis and decided to poke fun at him, by doing a comedy sketch based on the reality TV series Undercover Boss.

The long, national nightmare is over! That may be overstating things, but for all the people kind of disappointed that the release of Star Wars: The Force Awakens and its marvellous new heroine wasn’t greeted with requisite representation in toys, there’s good news. Following up on the social media “Where’s Rey?” campaign, the powers that be at Lucasfilm have announced that the next wave of Star Wars toys will be all about Rey, or at the very least be more about Rey than the previous line of toys released so far. So get ready for all the Rey goodies we were apparently denied for the good of spoilers. (more…)
