The Greatest American Hero


The guys who brought you The Lego Movie, Phil Lord and Chris Miller along with Rick Famuyiwa are set to revive an 80’s classic, Greatest American Hero. That’s right, back when male perms were the in fashion and high school kids that look like 30 year olds can wave a switch blade at their teacher and not get sent directly to jail. The series starred William Katt as School teacher Ralph Hinkly, Robert Culp as FBI agent Bill Maxwell, and Connie Sellecca as Lawyer Pam Davidson. Believe it or not, one of the greatest (or worst, depending on who you ask) superhero television series of all time is getting the reboot treatment and if Deadline has it right, two of the most successful and sought after filmmakers in the industry will be leading the way. The reboot part isn’t tough to believe, after all, Hollywood is the king of the recycle and many people often roll their eyes at the mention of the word “reboot”.  In this case however, the property is in the very capable hands of Clone High creators and The Lego Movie writers/directors, Phil Lord and Chris Miller, which means this is probably the greatest reboot news of all time.  The Greatest American Hero is flying (crashing?) back to the small screen.
