The Shannara Chronicles


We’ve known about The Shannara Chronicles as an upcoming TV series  for a while, and now we’re getting our first good look at the opening sequence of the show. Based on the Shannara novels by Terry Brooks, television-producer and host channel MTV is hoping the series will be their Game Of Thrones. If the newly-released opening credits scene is any indication, I would say they’ve got a good chance at it. (more…)


MTV used their NYCC15 platform to release a new trailer during their panel on the upcoming adaptation of Terry Brook‘s Shannara fantasy series titled The Shannara Chronicles. The panel included show runners . Alfred Gough and Miles Millar, author Terry Brooks, as well as cast members Manu Bennett, Poppy Drayton, Austin Butler, and John Rhys-Davies. While a lot of people might have been watching the VMA‘s last night, I wasn’t. I figured I could just surf the best bits Monday morning. You see, I am not a big MTV fan these days. I haven’t been for a long time, you’d have to go all the way back to when they actually played music videos. When I heard that MTV had grabbed up the television rights to Terry BrooksShannara series I groaned inside, or maybe my stomach just turned over. At the absolute best I figured we might get something along the quality level of Legend of the Seeker. Not that Legend of the Seeker wasn’t some pretty decent fantasy television, but it wasn’t Game of Thrones either. So waking up this morning to this trailer for producer Jon Favreau‘s The Shannara Chronicles is a shoot in the arm for all my thoughts on MTV. (more…)
