Tim Herlihy

It all started with a fantastic short Pixels back in 2010 by film maker Patrick Jean. Don’t worry if you haven’t seen it yet, we’ve embedded that short for you below. From there it quickly moved into development over at Columbia pictures and Happy Madison Productions. That’s right Adam Sandler and company are bringing this Pixel short concept to the big screen. Billy Madison, Happy Gilmore, The Wedding Singer, The Waterboy, Big Daddy, and Bedtime Stories. Some of Adam Sandler‘s funniest films (except Bedtime Stories, that sucked), and they were all written by veteran SNL writer Tim Herlihy. Every one he’s either credited as a writer or co-writer to be exact. Hmm, to think most of Sandler’s 90’s hits were written or co-written by one man, amazing.

Well Tim has been picked up to write what’s being called “a Ghostbusters-style action comedy in which characters come out of a video game to wreak havoc in the real world.” Called ‘Pixels’, this film was picked up and purchased the rights to be developed into a full length film by Sandler’s production company back in May. If you haven’t seen Pixels yet check out the short right here:

How awesome is this going to be? Tetris in downtown, Donkey Kong in Little Italy, Space Invaders! This is an 80’s 8-bit explosion and I can’t wait to see it. For now there’s no further information then what we have but nerbastards will keep you posted on it’s highscore.
