This coming Monday in a theatre near you, it will be your first chance to see Batman: Return of the Caped Crusaders, the all-new DC Animated Universe movie, which is based on theBatmanTV series that aired on ABC from 1966 to ’68. Getting to hear the voice of Adam West and Burt Ward as the Caped Crusader and the Boy Wonder again, along with Julie Newmar as Catwoman, will be a treat, but there are more than three reasons to check out the new animated Batman movie when it comes out on DVD and Blu-ray in a couple of weeks. The year is 1995 and Tim Burton’s vision of Batman has twice pleased life-long fans of the Caped Crusader as well as bringing in some huge box office numbers. The third entry in the franchise is ready to hit and fans everywhere are a bit confused with the replacement of Michael Keaton as the man behind the bat but they are still on board with Batman Forever. After all, casting Jim Carrey as The Riddler was a master stroke and audiences are very curious as to just what sort of life Tommy Lee Jones can breathe into lawyer turned psycho madman, Two-Face and, holy sidekick, audiences are finally going to get a Batman movie with the Boy Wonder, Robin! The movie was released and, unfortunately, it was nothing like the previous two entries, and audiences didn’t love Joel Shumacher’s vision of the Dynamic Duo as much as Burton’s stories. One thing that many agreed on, however, was the fun relationship between Two-Face and The Riddler. They may have seemed like the perfect alliance on screen but if Jim Carrey is to be believed, there may have been a bit of behind-the-scenes animosity on the set between Two-Face and The Riddler during the production of Batman Forever. So far, with only two episodes in the bank, Gotham is both confounding and pleasing Batman fans. The casting is pretty good, and the show looks great, but the writing is hitting us over the head with all the allusions and references to the Gotham of the “future,” the one where Batman is fighting his famous villains and they don’t work in the police department answering every question with a question (Riddler), or skulking around like a feline and calling herself “Cat” (Catwoman), or get slightly homicidal when they’re compared to Antarctic fowl (Penguin). But if you thought it odd that all of Batman’s favorite foes were in play years before there were active was odd, then get ready for a new addition to the world of Gotham. The man that will be Two-Face is coming. (more…)
Every day the internet produces an astounding amount of goodies and gems. Most hilarious, some amusing, but all worth at least a few seconds of your time. We here at Nerd Bastards try to bring you the best bits of news and nerdery the webz has to offer, with a bit of snark thrown in. But sometimes not everything makes the cut.
Monday through Friday we’ll be bringing you our inbox leftovers, our forgotten bookmarks, the nerdy bits that simply slipped through the cracks. You can submit items to Nerdy Bits by emailing us at firstname.lastname@example.org.
ABOVE: The Alamo Drafthouse Cinema will present The Princess Bride Quote-Along & Feaston February 14th. In conjunction with the event, they are launching their signature wine collection called The Bottle of Wits, featuring Inconceivable Cabernet and As You Wish White. The wines will debut at the Valentines Day event, then will be offered for sale to the public only through the end of 2012.
Arkham City is still about three months away but our nerdy excitement is ready to explode! Particularly because Rocksteady is so damn good at viral marketing. Everywhere you turn there’s another snippet or sneak peak of the upcoming sequel.
Do you remember in Arkham Asylum, all the audio tapes of inmate interviews scattered around? They were creepy, interesting insights in to the minds of Arkham’s sociopaths. This time around they’ve been leaking these interviews at conventions and making them available to those clever enough to decipher riddles left by you know who in the game trailers. But we’re not that smart, we’re freakin’ lazy gamers. That’s why we’ve collected all the leaked audio tapes here for you! Aren’t we grand?
Making these interviews extra special, and frightening, is Dr. Hugo Strange, a man insane enough he might as well be a patient himself. Below is his interview with the Joker (voiced again, marvelously, by Mark Hamill) and beyond the cut are interviews with Two-Face, Catwoman, Riddler and the Penguin.
Give ’em a listen and tell us, just how excited are your for Arkham City? Like on a scale from one to ten? I’m at eleven.

However, unlike other mash-up’s, this one actually does it extremely well! Surprised?
This particular mash-up (done by YouTube user TrueOneMoreUser) takes the original trailer for The Dark Knight, and combined it with CGI renderings of characters for Valve‘s Team Fortress 2 videogame inserted over the human cast. The greatest thing about this mash-up, entitled The Demo Knight, is that the characters looks the part and that they lip-synced the dialogue. This are the same people that created the mash-up of the movie, Law-Abiding Citizen with The Law Abiding Engineer.
You should definitely take a look at this trailer, at least for the reveal of how they did Two Face‘s two faces and their use of the spy character as the Joker.
Both videos are very well done and can be seen below the jump!
“You either die a hero, or you live long enough to see yourself become the villain.” Sadly, Aaron Eckhart’s Two-face character won’t be living on in Batman 3. Recently, Eckhart revealed that he is a fan on the outside looking in wonder what rumors are true or not true? This is what he had to say,
“In fact, I just talked to Chris the other day. I saw him and I said, ‘So, Angelina as Catwoman?’ I talked to him about it as a fan, you know? I’d like to see that. Or Johnny Depp as the Riddler, right?”
Of course by now we know that our witty and oh so charming “Forger” Tom Hardy, from Christopher Nolan’sInception will be playing the Riddler in the upcoming Batman.
Surprisingly, Eckhart isn’t upset or disgruntled by any means at the fact that he won’t be making an appearance in the third. Which quite frankly I’m little disappointed about. THis is what Eckhart siad about not being inthe next Batman installment,
“It was such a great experience to be one off and to be in the movie with Heath Ledger, and to have Chris even put me in the movie is just wonderful. I just feel like it’s its own entity. It’s its own capsule in the Batman series. So they’ll go on and I’ll watch them and be very happy with what I have.”
I mean the Scarecrow got to make an appearance in the sequel so why can’t Two-Face show up for a super sweet scene like that in Batman 3. What do you guys think about Two-Face being absent from the upcoming Batman flick?
