If you live in Cleveland, and you heard what you thought was the sound of gun fire and explosions today, don’t worry, it wasn’t an attack, at least not if you’re name is The Falcon or Black Widow. Yes, they were filming a scene from Captain America: The Winter Soldier on the Memorial Shoreway overpass at West 3rd St. in Cleveland, and (via Comic Book Movie) got some pictures of the shoot.

There’s a full photo gallery below, but what is it that they were filming? Excellent question, and Comic Book Movie did a nice little breakdown that may offer some slight spoilers, so read on at your own mitigated risk:

As you’ve seen in photos earlier today, the Winter Soldier is riding on top of a vehicle and in this vehicle are what appeared to be his personal armed posse. After the vehicle stops the minions get out with machine guns poised to fire and the Winter Soldier gets off the hood of the vehicle.

The Winter Soldier is carrying a grenade launcher and raises is at a vehicle that had both the doubles for the Black Widow and Falcon (or Sam Wilson, whichever way he is called in this film). He let’s off a blast. His fellows-in-arms open fire as well. Sadly, the photo taken of the Winter Soldier with the launcher was obscured and blurry.

Our heroes take cover from the blast and gunshots and it appeared they were preparing themselves for some hand-to-hand fighting versus the Winter Soldier and his armed buddies. Winter Soldier and his posse versus the Black Widow and Falcon?!

Not enough for you? Here’s some video.

Stay tuned for more on The Winter Soldier

Over the weekend, we posted a  grainy seven second clip for ABC and Marvel’s Agents of SHIELD.  The spot featured, what appeared to be, The Hulk smashing a car from a distance. We’ve discovered this the start of a viral marketing campaign for the Marvel television series involving a yet unknown group called Rising Tide.

By heading over to, viewers are given an insight into a group of conspiracy theorists hoping to prove the existence of S.H.I.E.L.D. It won’t be easy, seeing as over the entirety of the Marvel film universe, S.H.I.E.L.D. has maintained a state of anonymity. That doesn’t appear to shake this group of individuals judging by their mantra posted on the site:

Included on the site is the once removed Youtube clip, along with several other clips. There are connections to the first and second Iron Man movies, as well as The Incredible Hulk, but others are clips completely new to us. Even with Rising Tide’s counterproductive footage, seeing as everyone knows about Iron Man, gamma monsters and Asgardians, the group still believes that S.H.I.E.L.D. is hiding more they let on. Guess we’ll find out more once Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. debuts later this year, but for now take a look at videos currently posted on

phase 2

As Tony Stark might say while being a dick to Thor: “Prepare to loseth thy shit!”

Yesterday, we announced that Joss Whedon would begin filming Avengers 2 in the U.K. next year, and showed you some groovy Phase 2 concept art…

But that was just the appetizer – hope you saved room for the main course. 🙂

Let’s review before we commence with the awesomeness: Phase I began with the first Iron Man film, and proceeded – throughout The Incredible Hulk, Iron Man 2, Thor, Captain America, and The Avengers – to basically tell the story of how the band got together. Now that the principals have been introduced, and The Avengers are a thing, it’s time to initiate Phase 2, starting exactly one month from today with the release of Iron Man 3.

The following badass preview vid deals mostly with Iron Man – his upcoming film and his development throughout Phase I. But don’t let that fool you, there are some truly sexy teasers and tidbits concerning Thor: The Dark World, Captain America: The Winter Soldier, Guardians Of The Galaxy, Avengers 2, and – the film I’m personally looking forward to the most–Edgar Wright’s Ant-Man.

So, without further ado, Nerd Bastards proudly presents the highlight of your day (assuming you don’t win the lottery or something).

Many thanks to SuperHeroHype for the link .

Many, like myself, have watched all three Back to the Future movies end-to-end, but some of you may not recognize the name Tom Wilson. Replace that name with either Biff, Griff or Buford “Mad Dog” Tannen and you’re quoting “butt-head” till the DeLoreans come back to the present.

Unlike some of his co-stars, however, Tom didn’t “break out” following the trilogy. With a few bit parts here and there, as well as playing Coach Ben Fredricks in Freaks and Geeks, Wilson was more known for playing his past, present and future family members. That hasn’t stopped him from having a successful artistic and comedic career, but even twenty-two years later many BTTF fans still ask him to call them “butt-heads” or ask if the manure he was covered in was real.

In an interview with Nerd ambassador to the world Chris Hardwick and the Nerdist podcast last Fall, Wilson talked a bit about the past as well as what’s changed in the present with his comedy and career. An image posted on their site went almost unnoticed, but has recently been making a resurgence thanks to Reddit, answering any question you may have been saving up in case you ever met him. Check it out:

I won’t lie, I used to be scared to death of Bif Tannen. Now I see he’s really just a cool guy that loves his fans. Even with the years of constantly having to repeat the same phrases and answers asked of him, he still manages to be a stand-up guy. But I have even more respect for him putting it into song, something he did back in 2006:

Funny, well-respected and best of all, he’s got a few live shows upcoming up that you can actually go to! Check out TomWilsonUSA for his upcoming appearances and BigPopFun to get a look at Tom’s more artistic side – he’s damn good with a brush.

Documentary: Magic the Gathering – A Professional Tournament

(Ladies please, there’s plenty of me to go around)

Players of the famous Magic The Gathering card game spend coupious amounts of time and cash to create the perfect deck of cards. All for a chance to win cash prizes and “fame”, if you can call it that.

Like any sort of organized sport *snicker*, you’re not going to be respected until you have a documentary about the happenings between players and the impact it has on them.

Thankfully, two brave nerds, and fellow Magic The Gathering players, took it upon themselves to make such a documentary. Covering the “professional” tournament held from Sept. 2-4, 2011 in philadelphia, PA, Nathan Holt, his brother Ben, and friend Shawn Kornhauser filmed this weekend sausage fest.

Seriously! I didn’t see a single female player on the convention floor, somebody must have cast their cockblock card that weekend.

Regardless, this is a fan-effing-tastic short doc. It’s really fun to watch, even if you’re not a aren’t a Magic nerd.

Special thanks nerdbastards fan, Beth Kellner who found this gem of a video. Infinity fairies indeed.

Check Out What Happens On a ‘Zombie’s Day Out’

The life of a Zombie is a pretty simple:  Reanimate, eat a couple of brains and eventually get a kill shot to the head. Suffice to say,  it’s usually a gray and ugly existence for a member of the walking dead. Thankfully “Zombie’s Day Out” brings a bit more life into a world filled with the living dead.

Even Hitler’s Pissed About The Company Wide DC Reboot

By now you know about what DC comics has in store for it’s top comic book franchises like Batman, Wonder Woman and of course Superman. If you don’t here’s the short and skinny version of it all: Every major comic book hero is getting rebooted back to to issue #1. This has more then a few people wanting to riot in their nearest comic book stores but it pales in comparison to the fury of the leader of the Third Reich.

Hitler brings down the verbal schmerz

If this footage looks familiar to you it should, it’s a clip from the 2004 German movie Downfall, now known to the Internet as the Hitler Reacts Meme. You’ve seen this clip used for everything from pokemon to the recent Playstation Network hack, but this one may take the trophy (for the next six months).

Don’t feel too bad though Hitler, it’ll always be spring time for those untouched issues of Vertigo you have packed away.

Star Trek Fans Strike Back at J.J. Abrams

When Star Trek went off the air, fans wanted more stories about the Enterprise crew and their adventures. Books were written, cartoons made, eventually there were movies and a return to the television screen. Take a look at Star Trek Phase II for some of the best. So when J.J. Abrams rebooted the original Star Trek universe some fans weren’t too happy about it. The folks at Star Trek Phase II decided to take matters into their own hands and restore the original timeline. The video below premiered at FedCon in Germany to set things right.

A Real Life Mario World

You played Nintendo’s Super Mario Brothers for years, mastering your timing and getting speed runs down to a science. After all this practice would it be possible to survive an actual level of Super Mario in real life? Andrew McMurry has created this awesome 3D video of himself in a real life Mario world. It wouldn’t be real life without giving Andrew a gun though, fireflowers are so 1988. He could always just stomp on a Koopa but why do that when he can just pop a cap in that turtle shell.

Who needs 3 lives when your carrying a 45?

Nobody say’s “The Princess is in another Castle” facing a power-up that’ll blow their brain right out of their ears.

It’s been nearly 24 hours since the release of Portal 2 and Mortal Kombat (9) and it’s safe to say they’ve got some pretty flawless reviews as their companions. Portal 2 is huge to the puzzle gamers and Mortal Kombat is the marriage of violence to the blood thirsty fighting gamers. It’s a pure shame that you can only play one game at a time but what would both at the same time look like? Thanks to The Game Station we get to see inside one man’s head on release day as he tries to choose among the violence and humor of this week’s fantastic game releases. If Kratos gets to rip people apart why can’t we get Chell performing “portalities” as future DLC content.

Time for an Aperture ass kicking

Now if this was the other way around Sub-Zero would be cheating like there was no tomorrow, it would be nothing but ice bridges and frozen turrets.
