voltron legendary defender
Thanks to Netflix, a new generation of fans are being brought into the world of Voltron (with the release of Voltron Legendary Defenders Season 3 just dropping this morning!). Back in the 1980s, kids could play with a special die-cast set of all the tigers and combine them into a tall Voltron set. It was cool, but it was also very expensive so few kids had them and they are highly collectible now. With so many new toys hitting the market, it’s time for a new Voltron set anyone can afford and play with, so LEGO has come to the rescue by approving a fanmade set of the legendary hero!
Netflix has released the first trailer for season 3 of Voltron: Legendary Defender and it looks like the jig might be up for Voltron Force as Prince Lotor returns with a chip on his shoulder. Let’s not forget that the team can’t form Voltron because Siro, the Black Paladin, is missing. Check out the trailer below. (more…)
When we last saw the crew of Voltron: Legendary Defender, not only had they just been beaten by Emperor Zarkon, but they had also been split up across different parts of the galaxy left to wonder if they’d ever see each other again. Of course, what kind of a show would it be if the paladins who controlled the mighty Voltron gave up after their first season? Obviously they’d eventually be reunited, but the question is what will their journey look like? Season one was released earlier this year in June, and with New York Comic Con this weekend, a new trailer has dropped for season two. So, if you’re ready, willing, and able, then check out the trailer for the next season after the jump.
Originally airing on September 10, 1984, Voltron: Defender of the Universe was the first Voltron series, heavily edited from the more gruesome Beast King GoLion from Japan. The basic premise — five robots combine into one to fight evil. 30 sum years later, the property is still going strong – even after failed revivals like 1998’s Voltron: The Third Dimension (which most fans despise) and 2011’s Voltron Force (which fans just didn’t watch at all). But Voltron is back in full force, thanks to Dreamworks Animation and Netflix Voltron reboot: Voltron Legendary Defender. The 11 episode rebootening which hit earlier this summer, tells of Voltron second coming – with 5 unlikely Teenagers transported from Earth to become pilots for ancient robotic lions during an intergalactic war.
Legendary Defender sparks the child within all. It does what it was meant to do, bridging the 80’s 90’s till this generation. It also bring’s the giant super robot genre back to a lighter perspective. The Voltron Force is a bright rag tag crew learning to work together as they face dark elements. It’s a rework of the original story and characters but it, well, works! Fans are digging it big time. And right now, the conversation is “where the hell is season 2?” (more…)
Netflix, along with DreamWorks Animation is bringing back Voltron: Legendary Defender to the small screen. The team behind The Legend of Korra, Joaquim Dos Santos and Lauren Montgomery are in charge of this latest incarnation of Voltron so there is hope for a well done series that takes Voltron fans to new places while remaining true to the Voltron mythos. We’ve seen the teaser and posters, now check out the first trailer for the new series that hits Netflix in June. (more…)
