By the time the credits rolled on Blade: Trinity, a lot of people thought of further Daywalker adventures by paraphrasing the immortal words of the farmer in Babe, “That will do, Blade. That will do.” Given Patton Oswalt’s now infamous oral history of the behind the scenes rancour of the film, the fact that Trinity was in anyway comprehensible is a tribute to David S. Goyer and his editor. It does make you wonder though: why would Wesley Snipes want to come back? Is he looking to make amends for past cinema sins, or given the present superhero movie hysteria does he know a good deal when he sees it? (more…)
Rumors reguarding Wesley Snipes possibly reprising his iconic Blade role and returning to the big screen for Marvel have been have been making the rounds as of late. Before this, the rumor was that if Marvel did indeed move forward with a Blade project, it would be centered around Blade’s daughter: Fallon Grey. Snipes has been dropping some hints, however, that you really never know when it comes to Marvel- and nothing should be ruled out. Here are the details he’s shared about the discussions he’s been having with Marvel on the subject. (more…)
Earlier this month there were reports that Marvel’s Blade the Hunter, by Tim Seeley and Logan Faerber was going to be delayed past its expected October release. Now we might know the reason this new book, about the daughter of Blade, has been kept off comic book shelves and it’s all about the Box Office Benjamins. (more…)
Wesley Snipes has done his time and has thrown himself back into the world of acting. His latest acting gig is on the television series The Player. Snipes is at SDCC 2015 to promote the show and you… and of course Snipes, both knew that Blade questions would be thrown at him. What’s Snipes got to say about Blade? (more…)
We’ve been treated to so much goodness this summer already that we forgot about the all important concluding chapter of the pivotal Expendables trilogy. Chock a block full of Sylvester Stallone’s buddies, The Expandables 3 promises to be the rootinest, tootinest, shooinest, explodiest Expendables of them all with the returning old guns, some more veterans joining the fray, and a group of newbie recruits. From the looks of it, this three-quel promises nothing less than an entire neighborhood being destroyed in the midst of all it’s action. And apparently, Jason Statham and Wesley Snipes cement their bromance with a game of knives. That’s sweet. (more…)
Because sometimes one, two, or even 10 tough guys aren’t enough, we get our first sneak peak at The Expendables 3, the venerable franchise that’s the League of Extraordinary Gentlemen of big dumb 80s action movie stars. For this new outing, series stalwarts like Sylvester Stallone, Terry Crews, Jet Li, Jason Statham, Dolph Lundgren, Arnold Schwarzenegger, and Randy Couture are teamed with new recruits Kellen Lutz, Ronda Roussey, Victor Ortiz, Glen Powell and newish (read: old) additions like Harrison Ford, Kelsey Grammer, Wesley Snipes, Antonio Banderas, Mel Gibson. So keeping in mind that this is a teaser trailer, does this first look get you excited about the new film, or does it make you feel as tired as its stars look? You be the judge. (more…)
This summer will be a testosterone overflow as Hollywood’s ancient action heroes Sylvester Stallone, Jason Statham, Jet Li, Dolph Lundgren, Randy Couture, Terry Crews and Arnold Schwarzenegger return to their roles to do some major ass-kicking in The Expendables 3. Also joining the all-star cast this year is Wesley Snipes, Antonio Banderas, Kelsey Grammar, Mel Gibson, Harrison Ford, Kellan Lutz, MMA star Ronda Rousey, welterweight boxing champion Victor Ortiz and Glen Powell. The most hardcore cast in movie history is officially back and ready for action! Can’t wait until next summer? Meet the gang NOW in the brand-new teaser trailer.
Sylvester Stallone put a casting news update for The Expendables III on his Facebook page to confirm that Nicolas Cage is signed up and that he (Stallone) is still hoping to get Harrison Ford, Wesley Snipes, and Mickey Rourke on board.Really though, besides Harrison Ford do any of those guys have any reason NOT to do the movie? Wesley Snipes needs the money to pay taxes on all the other money he has not paid taxes on, Rourke has managed to revive his career and flush it right back down the toilet again faster than a speeding bullet. It is going to really take some work on Stallone’s part to get Harrison Ford involved, I’d put money on Ford not getting any where near this movie with a ten foot pole.
Sly couldn’t resist the urge to throw a stone or two at the movie’s critics while making this announcement, you’d think that with a movie like this he would just have fun, make some money, and let it be. Does he really think that critics would fawn over this type of movie, Lord help us if Stallone starts reading reviews of his Dolly Parton movie Rhinestone.
THE EXPENDABLES 3:
We are preparing the film with the same passion and commitment as the previous two. We have confirmed Nicolas Cage, a master actor who gives a veneer intellectual group. Hopefully we can realize to Harrison Ford, Wesley Snipes and Mickey Rourke. That is the great mission of the producer. We will continue with the same narrative scheme, the agility and the frenzy, which are inherent to the saga. What will definitely be the last? I can not guarantee. In principle it would be two deliveries, but the affection of the people encouraged us to work on a third. I guess as long as we amused ourselves by offering fun and people, we can continue playing ‘The Expendables’. For now we are not as expendable as it should and as some critics want.
The Expendables 2 comes out this Friday, and the assumption is that it’s going to hit. So naturally, producers are looking at who else might be recruited to the team for the inevitable follow-up, and they have some pretty big names in mind.
Producer Avi Lerner gave Total Film a wish list of who he’d like to see in Expendables 3, and it’s got some pretty impressive names on it. Let’s let Lerner explain:
We’ve approached Clint Eastwood to be one of the guys, we’ve got a character in mind for him. We’re talking to Harrison Ford. [And we want] Wesley Snipes when he comes back from prison. I’ll give you one more name, we’ve got Nicolas Cage to play [one of the characters]. And we’re going to bring Mickey Rourke back, if he won’t be too crazy. I like Mickey. And of course, all the existing stars [will return].
I can see Snipes doing it, and he’ll be getting out of jail next summer – just in time for principal photography to begin. Eastwood would be very cool, I can see him being like Lee Marvin in The Dirty Dozen, but I wonder if given his busy career as a director if he has the time or the interest. Cage? If he did Bangkok Dangerous, he’ll do Expendables 3. Hopefully as a villain. Ford might be the trickiest of all to secure, but he did Cowboys & Aliens and went to Comic Con in the same year, so maybe he’s getting soft in his old age.
No word if Steven Seagal might pull his head out of his ass and sign up.
The Expendables 2 comes out this Friday.
Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter -the fantasy/horror novel turned live action feature film- could be one of the hottest movies of the summer. Seriously, how could you go wrong with an American icon swinging axes like a boss and slaying Vampires? It’s so good, that creatives are already taken sequel. In an interview with Screen Rant, Seth Grahame-Smith – author of the original novel as well as the script for the film adaptation – talked about a sequel potential.
“The short answer is yes, absolutely.”, says Grahame-Smith. Confirming that the Abe Lincoln’s origin story isn’t yet completed in Vampire Hunter, the possibility of a sequel could be in the works. Even with the average history nut knowing that Lincoln was assassinated in April of 1865 this may not be the last we see of the American president. Here’s what director Timur Bekambetov had to say:
“If you read the book there’s an epilogue that leaves things open to that. In the film, without giving anything away, we don’t definitively end the origin story. We leave, not only a mentor story, but also possibly a Lincoln story open.”
“The scary thing is that they can convert you.”, says Bekambetov. “This is the scariest thing. Because we know that Lincoln was killed in the theater, but the whole movie you are afraid that they will bite him and we don’t know who was killed in that theater, and how…”
Could it be that Abe would return as some kind of Wesley Snipes‘ Blade, slaying vampires while fighting his own thirst for human blood? Sounds like a worthwhile sequel for the man who freed the slaves- in between chopping off Vampire heads.
Starring Benjamin Walker, Rufus Sewell, Dominic Cooper, Mary Elizabeth Winstead, Anthony Mackie and Alan Tudyk, Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter is set to arrive in theatres everywhere June 22nd, later this year.
