A couple of weeks ago, Nintendo unveiled the future, or at the very least the future of its console gaming. Nintendo Switch hits store shelves sometime in the new year, which means that the end is nigh for the Wii U, and it likely can’t come soon enough for the gaming company. Sales for Wii U, as compared to the sales for the original Wii, have been downright tepid. To borrow a line from a certain politician, it’s a disaster. So it’s understandable then, for all those reasons, why reports are saying that Nintendo will wrap production on Wii U at the end of the week. (more…)
The Nintendo stage at this year’s E3 convention was dominated by just two games. Along with a little more information about the new NX console coming out next year, Nintendo focused mainly on the upcoming Pokémon releases and the hugely anticipated new Legend of Zelda game, Breath of the Wild. Given that both franchises are decades old, the originality that have gone into the new games has certainly made Nintendo’s announements unique. Pokémon Go offers fans a foray into real world gaming, while almost everything about Breath of the Wild is groundbreaking. (more…)
Forget everything you know about The Legend of Zelda games. At today’s Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3), developer Nintendo debuted a trailer and demoed their upcoming Wii U game, ‘The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wind.’
Be prepared to step into a world of discovery, exploration and adventure in this boundary-breaking game in the acclaimed Zelda series. As Link, you will find yourself traveling across fields, through forests and up mountain peaks as you discover what has become of the ruined kingdom of Hyrule in this stunningly beautiful open-air adventure.
With remarkable visuals, a breathtaking environment, and a vast landscape, Link and the Zelda franchise have never looked better. NerdBastards has the official trailer, as well as video of some of today’s demoing of the game. (more…)
Okay, so it’s probably not the new Star Wars trailer you’d like to see (Rogue One anyone?), but a sneak peak trailer for LEGO Star Wars: The Force Awakens has been leaked, and if you’re still in love with the seventh Star Wars movie, then you’re definitely going to love this. Copying some of the scenes portrayed in the movie’s trailers, the game looks like it will give fans the change to play as Finn, Rey, Poe Dameron and all your favorites from The Force Awakens, plus it will apparently fill in some of the blanks from the time period between Return of the Jedi and The Force Awakens. Interested yet? (more…)
With the failure of the Wii U in their minds, Nintendo has begun work on a lot of projects to move the company forward. Most notable of those is the partnership with DeNA to develop mobile games of their famous IPs, a move that has upset a number of the Nintendo faithful. To stifle fears that they’re abandoning the home console business, top Nintendog Satoru Iwata immediately announced that work on their next dedicated platform, the NX, is well underway, promising some concrete details at some point in 2016. A lack of information is always frustrating, but we have gotten our nerdy little hands on some production information, courtesy of DigiTimes, that could shed some light on their release plans. No matter how you feel about them or their place in the modern video game industry, no other gaming company has as many beloved franchises in their roster as Nintendo. Mario, Zelda, Metroid, Donkey Kong, and Star Fox are at the top of the list and, with very few exceptions, are peerless. It’s no wonder then that Universal Studios, known for their awesome theme parks and attractions, would team up with Nintendo to bring their roster of characters and worlds into their properties.
