Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory

“Hold your breath. Make a wish. Count to three.” And hope they don’t mess this up. Willy Wonka And The Chocolate Factory proved that anything is possible with a little bit of imagination. Of course, this comes with the exception of the 2005 remake starring Johnny Depp. However, it looks like Warner Bros. is going to take another shot at telling another story about Mr. Wonka. This time, the studio is teaming with producer David Heyman, whose recent work includes Harry Potter and Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them. The movie will be about an early adventure that Willy Wonka goes on.

Admit it,  as a kid (and probably still now well into your adulthood) you’ve always dreamed Willy Wonka’s Chocolate Factory was a real place, and that you’d be one of the lucky few to find a Golden Ticket inside a wrapped chocolate bar, and be swept up into a world of pure imagination as you tour the mysterious and reclusive chocolate factory.  Of course, if the movie Charlie and the Chocolate Factory taught us anything, it’s that most people are horrible greedy little sh*ts, and chocolate factories are as wonderful as they are dangerous – from chocolate water falls and lickable wallpaper, to  nightmarish psychedelic boat rides, and megalomaniac chocolatiers.  Still,  who wouldn’t wanna go?

Well now, thanks to Universal Studios, you can! But… it’s perhaps not as exciting as you hoped it would be. (more…)

Even now, fourty four years after its release in 1971, you’d be hard pressed to find anyone that wasn’t charmed and enchanted by Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory.  Based on the classic children’s book by Roald Dahl, Wonka transported us to a “world of pure imagination” that viewers got to explore vicariously through Charlie Bucket and his fellow Golden Ticket winners.  In celebration of maintaining “family film staple” status for 44 years, the Today  show sat down with some of the original cast members for a sugary-sweet reunion. On the surface, these two movies could not be any more different.

Tron Legacy is the sequel to an early Disney movie about a man entering a completely digital world to fight his father’s evil clone, while Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory is a kid’s movie based on a book about an eccentric candy maker and his factory.

And yet somehow, this mash-up trailer makes it all work!

YouTube user ChiefBrodyRules created a rather unique and well put together mash-up of these two films. And he even manages to bring Johnny Depp‘s Wonka into the mix … kudos!

Check out the impressive mash-up video below.
