Young Han Solo

Production is currently underway on the untitled Han Solo Star Wars Story, the second in Lucasfilm‘s planned series of one-shot spin-offs to the Star Wars saga. Now we’ve said this before, but there’s a lot riding on this movie. While Rogue One proved that Star Wars flicks are just as popular as ever beyond the main saga, this one features the recasting of several key Star Wars characters and goes into the mysterious background of a certain double-crossing, no good swindler. But the images provided below demonstrates that, if nothing else, star Alden Ehrenreich certainly looks the part as young Han Solo.  (more…)

February 20, 2017 is a day that will live in infamy; it’s the start of production on the young Han Solo adventure and the next standalone Star Wars Story film in the franchise. Details are still scarce about what part of Han Solo’s life will be revealed in the course of the film, which has long been a dream project of Empire Strikes Back screenwriter Lawrence Kasdan, but we now know that it will definitely have something to do with the Millennium Falcon. Have you ever seen a happier group of people? Well, you would be too if you were behind the stink of the Falcon as well! (more…)

With the success of the first “Non-Saga” Star Wars film, Rogue One, Lucasfilm is starting to look towards their next spin-off, the untitled Han Solo film. The upcoming film will focus on a younger Han Solo before he teamed up with Luke, Leia, and the gang to save the galaxy.  When he was just a smuggler dealing with the underworld of the Star Wars universe. Directed by Phil Lord and Christopher Miller, written by Lawrence and Jon Kasdan, and will star Alden Ehrenreich as the younger Han Solo and Donald Glover as a younger Lando Calrissian. The film is set to start filming soon for a planned May 2018 release date. However, it looks like that date may be changing.

The untitled young Han Solo movie is still a solid year-and-a-half away from being released, but as the calendar winds down to a likely production start date for early in the new year, we will surely start to hear more about it. One thing’s for certain though, and that thing is that directors Chris Miller and Phil Lord are not to be underestimated. These are the guys that made a LEGO Movie that was funny and heartwarming and didn’t once feel like a toy commercial, and they were the guys that took a silly 80s Fox cop drama and made two hilarious comedic installments. So what can they do with Star Wars’ favourite scoundrel? (more…)

Harrison Ford is making the Talk show rounds for the upcoming release of Star Wars: The Force Awakens on DVD/Blu-Ray and made an appearance on Ellen. While there the pair talked about a number of things which included that Indiana Jones 5 is in the works. When Ellen brought up the casting of a new Han Solo, Ford was quick to point out that it was a young Han Solo and not a new Han Solo. He also had some advice for those auditioning for the young Han Solo part. (more…)

Wasn’t Harrison Ford great in Star Wars: The Force Awakens, everyone? A legendary actor once again playing his most legendary role. But while Ford accepts praise for his portrayal of the older, but not remotely frail, Han Solo, the corporate overlords that own the rights to the character at Lucasfilm and the Walt Disney Company are currently looking for a younger model Han Solo to star in the second standalone Star Wars movie following Rogue One. From many, comes one, or at least in this case a dozen or so. Sources are telling one Hollywood trade that there’s now a short list for the new Han Solo, and the reason for the immediacy of casting the part may be surprising. (more…)

I don’t know about you, but I always get nervous when geek sites start running conjecture based on unnamed “sources”. We’re not exactly dealing with regular Bob Woodward types here, so the “Deep Throat” veils of secrecy always strike me as mere excuses for nerdboy fantasy.

According to Schmoes Know, Lawrence Kasdan is 100% confirmed by their “trusted source” to be writing the 2016 Boba Fett film. This comes hot on the heels of Disney’s announcement that both Gareth Edwards (Godzilla ’14) and Josh Trank (Chronicle) are directing two of the three Star Wars spin-off movies planned to be dropping in-between the still untitled Episodes VII – IX.
