Honestly, is there anyone that’s lookin’ forward to Nickelodeon‘s upcoming makeover of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles? Granted, we’re all cowabunga and shit for our heroes in a half shell, but this latest incarnation is looking stupider by the day. In the brief clips and promo art we’ve seen, the CG animation looks like those crap GEICO “I made this in 15 minutes” commercials, or that new Garfield television show that nobody watches. Awful. But, promos have been limited and I’ve tried to reserve judgement.

Now some new images have been released and I’m not a happy bastard. In an earlier comment from producer Ciro Nieli, he said the newly revamped turtles will have “more individual attributes” than they did before. I guess that meant elephantitis feet. Lower extremities have monstrous proportions? Maybe it’s more anthropomorphic. Maybe that’s the secret of the Ooze. It’s just another layer on top of another layer of horrible design choices,  in my opinion anyway.

Course, we probably shouldn’t give two shits about their toes. We should be more concerned about wrong-footedness in the animation and storytelling. FYI, I totally stole that last comment from our friends at bleedingcool, who are so much more clever than I am.

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles will be premiering on Nickelodeon around the end of the year with 26 half-hour episodes. This will be the first new TMNT series since the last one went off the air in 2009.
