Let’s face it, The Walking Dead is one of cable’s biggest shows. Besides Game of Thrones, there really isn’t a show that completely captures almost the entire nation week after week on AMC’s juggernaut show. Week after week, the show has continued to impress us as we follow the adventures of Rick Grimes and his group of survivors. As we are about to begin season 7, anticipation is high for the show’s return.

It’s almost a no-brainer that the show was just announced for a new season. AMC announced that The Walking Dead has been renewed for an 8th season. The upcoming 7th season will end on episode 99 and season 8 will start with the 100th episode in the fall of 2017, a milestone for a show about zombies. AMC president Charlie Collier expresses his excitement about this and next season for the show.

“Eeny, meeny, miny, more. What a joy to partner with Robert Kirkman, Scott M. Gimple and some of the hardest-working people in television to bring The Walking Dead to the fans. And, most important, thanks to those fans for breathing life into this remarkable series right along with us.”

In addition to renewing The Walking Dead, AMC also renewed Talking Dead, the aftershow where professional nerd Chris Hardwick talks about the episode with special guests right after it airs. Talking Dead is the highest rated talk show on television and the number 2 show on cable, second only to The Walking Dead.

With the show’s current arc promising to stick closely to the “All Out War” storyline from the comics, fans are in for a treat as a new (and deadliest) antagonist goes against Rick and company. In addition to Negan, we will get to see King Ezekiel, Shiva the tiger, and the rest of The Kingdom. The show continues to soar! Plus, we’ll finally get to find out who is on the receiving end of Lucille.
