Just when you thought season three of CW‘s Arrow would be full enough with the likes of Ras al Ghul, word is making the Internet rounds that Arrow has added a new superhero to its ranks with the casting of J. R. Ramirez (Emily Richards, MD) as Wildcat. What’s this mean for the show?10454949_311484172352796_7565742591773456316_o

A lot of fans wondered why Stephen Amell posted the picture below to his Facebook page back in July:

Add that picture in with Wildcat’s boxing background and you can see the connection.

In Arrow, Grant will be a former boxer who now runs a gym for underprivileged youth. A man with a mysterious past, he will play a pivotal role in Laurel Lance’s arc this season. Wildcat is one of two major DC comic book characters to be added to Arrow this coming seaso, along with villain Ra’s al Ghul.

For those of you unfamiliar with Wildcat, I found a fan made tribute video that sums it up nicely.

Although this incarnation of Wildcat will be a younger man, I can picture Wildcat training Laurel on fighting techniques. Then getting drawn into the super hero fight by forces out of their control, force’s like Ras al Ghul’s League of Assassins.

I’m betting Laurel and Arrow are joined together to find out what happened to her sister Sara Lance. Her possible fate and connection to the League of Assassins leads me to think that something bad might be about to happen or already happened to her. That will lead Laurel to investigate, avenge, and then finally taking on the Black Canary identity in tribute.

What do you think?
