When news hit that NBC was rebooting the 1976 Wonder Woman series, people were ecstatic to see Diana Troy deflect bullets and use that golden Lasso of Truth again. Unfortunately what they saw was David E. Kelley allowing the star of the show, Adrianne Palicki, to rock what could only be described as a mixture of shock and shame for a costume. Way too shiny and too much spandex for its own good; the suit honestly looked like it was a cheap Halloween costume. Because of the outcry (or not), NBC was smart enough to retool the costume, offering non-shiny pants and red boots in place of blue (good choice). Well, don’t get too comfortable, because it seems that the costume department is busy making yet another downstairs piece to wrap around those Amazonian legs.

Fashion designers are miffed.

They’re going from spandex, to skin tight sweat pants, to yet another piece of fabric replacing the outer wear. What could it possibly be? How about the iconic Underoos, an updated look to the pair worn by the original TV Wonder Woman Lynda Carter? In an interview with TV Line, NBC president Robert Greenblatt discussed how the short shorts will be fitting, not on him but on the new Wonder Woman:

“There was an initial outcry about the long pants – you know, skintight pants as opposed to those little shorts [worn by Lynda Carter in the original TV series]. But the shorts were always planned. They are actually used in the final confrontation when she beats Veronica Cale (played by Elizabeth Hurley).”

It has yet to be seen what this 3rd and hopefully final costume actually looks like, as no pictures have surfaced yet. Until then let’s sink back into the decade of peace, love and tight costumes with the original costume that sparked a ton of young nerds’ “interests”. If we called it anything else we might have to wash our hands, not to mention do a new load of laundry.

What do you think this new costume will look like? A hit or just another miss? Let’s see the comments light up faster then the alarm on the invisible jet.
